I've been walking for a while and ended upwards getting what I believe is a roof intact friction blister. Information technology's non painful and simply causes a fleck of discomfort but I'm agape that if I proceed to continue my long walks, it'll get worse and perhaps infected. I don't know if I should give up walking for a couple of days in order to let my blister heal, what should I practise?

    • Rebecca Rushton BSc(Pod) 31 December 2021 at 12:39 pm - Reply

Hi Jamie. You're correct, if you lot don't do annihilation to take away the blister-causing forces, your blister will likely become worse and tear, opening information technology up to the chance of infection.

The idea is to negate the blister-causing forces. Sure, you could stop walking. Or you could do things similar one) reduce friction, two) reduce pressure level, 3) minimise movement of the adjacent bones, four) spread shear load or 5) use shear-absorbing materials – and proceed walking, without the take chances of things getting worse.

Which of the five options you choose depends on where your blister is (back of heel, between toes, outer pinky toe, under large toe, arch etc). Go to my blog and use the search office in the sidebar to search your blister location and I'll tell you which are the all-time preventive options.

      Hope this helps.
